WolframAlpha The Thinking Search Engine

Posted in Tech by Neil Koster on March 10, 2009

wolframIt is being hyped by those “In the know” as a proper competitor to Google Search. WolframAlpha a “computational knowledge engine”, designed by Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram. If claims are true it is as simple as asking a question and getting a computed factual response. Sound weird? A little maybe?
Based on Wolframs belief that every question/answer in life is based on knowledge and facts (er Reasoning? what about the reasoning?) So basically you type in your question….. “where do I get Bark ?” you should get more answers along the lines of “From a tree” rather than “from a dog”…..I think. Anyway it is live in May 2009 so swing by http://www.wolframalpha.com/ and give it a whirl.
