Juror dismissed for sharing details on Facebook

Posted in Tech by Neil Koster on November 25, 2008

A woman juror from Burnley, Lancashire in the UK has been dismissed from Jury duty for openly discussing the case she was involved with – on Facebook. Strict laws forbid jurors from discussing the details of cases with anyone but the overseeing judge and fellow jurors in the courthouse environment.

I find it strange that people do not realise Facebook is a communication tool – are we so entrenched in our webworld that we think the “normal” rules don’t apply?
