USB 3.0 Claims speeds of up to 5Gbps – FAST !!!

Posted in Tech by Neil Koster on November 18, 2008

Have you every tried to back up your valuable data to portable hard drive using a USB (2.0) cable ? Takes an hour or so? Well with speeds of up to 10 times faster than usb 2.o It should theoretically take a tenth of the time! Preliminary tests using USB 3.0 to transfer data show it does slightly less than the 5Gbps (variably) over a range of tasks but is shed-loads faster than the “old” standard (2.0). We should start to see this standard rolling out on PCs and peripherals by the tail end of ’09. Can’t wait! Backups and copying etc. should be a chore no more!
