Social Network Hackers Sell On Your Details for 89p
It is on the increase! Hackers are sending phising emails that appear just like those “Your friends has tagged you in a photo” ones from Facebook, Bebo, Myspace. When you click and log in – your details are stolen and sold on to gangs who then use them to spread viruses to friends on your network. They keylog your details, steal bank passwords etc. Don’t say you havent been warned! Don’t open spam!
Dev-Team Unlock iPhone 3G
From the Dev-Team website
“We have been working hard on a few other things. The main one being the 3G unlock codenamed “yellowsn0w”. This is now completed and is currently being packaged into a user-friendly application with the simplicity that you see in QuickPwn or BootNeuter.
- The target release date for the unlock is New Year’s Eve 2008.
- This unlock method is available to iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier, we did warn you.
- You can tell what version baseband you have by going to Settings->General->About->Modem Firmware
- The unlock requires a jailbroken 3G iPhone. It’ll be installable via Cydia and so it doesn’t matter if you have a Mac or PC.
- Please refrain from updating your baseband, regardless of what version you’re at. We’ll have complete directions on New Year’s Eve.
- We’ll stream a live demo of the unlock before Christmas (see the update at the end of this post)
Lets hope Steve Jobs is on leave for Christmas and doesnt plug this sucker a day later…
Sony PSP2 On It’s Way ?
Eurogamer are reporting that Sony will release one last update to it’s current PSP range and then replace with a “newer, updated” version. Don’t get to excited with the pic above – it is the work of some seriously talented Photoshoppers but there is some school of thought that says the new one will be kinda like the pic! It has all the cutting edge tech: the sliding screen revealing the Keyboard/joypad underneath. The screen will probably be HD and it will probably have Skype, Internet 3G, Text messaging, camera and a phone? Sony appear to be going for a “cut above the rest” attitude. Hopefully there will be more games than the last one…….or not!

Did Microsoft Know About xBox 360 Disc Damage Problem All Along?
While Microsoft admitted “some consoles damage certain discs” it claimed it was unaware of the problem until early 2007 but now it has emerged from sources in The Seattle Post-Intelligencer that Microsoft first discovered the problem in September or October of 2005 and still shipped the disc-damaging consoles regardless. The story in the Post-Intelligencer even claims Microsoft sent a “team of engineers” to various stores to investigate the problem and determined it would be more cost efficient to offer replacements than to replace the small “bumpers” (rubber stoppers) on every console. while this kind of industrial “Ship ‘em anyway” attitude is not new – it really shows the pressure MS was under to ship before Sony and this has been lauded by observers as the main reason it has gained a foothold over it’s rival.
Virgin About To Launch “Fastest Broadband In UK”
Apparently Virgin are about to release 50 Megabits per second broadband to domestic customers. This speed, if correct, is about twice as fast as the current available services. (Be Broadband offers 24Mbs currently). They must be sure they can achieve the speed because Ofcom (British Telecom Regulators) are fining people left, right and centre for not achieving advertised speeds. We can just sit and hope!

Dell Makes $1 million off Twitter
If you, like me, use twitter to broadcast to your friends, family, followers you will understand that it is a very interesting tool. Obama used Twitter to tell who his running mate (Biden) was before the press new, Britney told me she was sad, Dvorak told me he was buying wine at Costco etc. My question is…. How do Twitter make money?
Dell have just admitted that it can attribute more than $1 million in sales to twitter postings to its customers who signed up to its feed….. so this got me thinking…. Venture Capitalists have invested millions in twitter but it is yet to see any profit. It has, in fact, never displayed a model for making money until this story came out. Well kinda.
Twitter’s value is in its ”I can’t do without it” factor. While it won’t make money for its service day to day there is no denying that should it go up for sale – people will sell there own children to get it. It’s value is only made up by the fact that many depend on it and thus it has value as a saleable commodity.
